URS CorporationChallengeResidents in west central Texas are increasingly concerned about adequate water supplies from their primary sources of water - the Edwards-Trinity (Plateau) and Pecos Valley aquifers. A computer model had been developed by the state to help determine the amount of groundwater available in those aquifers, but it needed updating to better serve the needs of stakeholders. SolutionTexas Water Development Board selected URS Corporation to update the existing computer model, taking into consideration feedback from stakeholders, particularly around Upton and Reagan counties. URS asked Laura Raun Public Relations to facilitate a stakeholder advisory forum to comments and suggestions about proposed methods of updating the model. ResultsThe Texas Water Development Board, relying in part on stakeholder input, recommended development of a separate computer model for the Pecos Valley Aquifer and sub-regional models for the Edwards-Trinity (Plateau) Aquifer. |
